Ash Gorman

I have been with the agency for over fifteen years.  Throughout my time here, I have worked in Match Support and in Partnership Development before taking the leadership position in August of 2007.  I have also served as a Big Brother for two separate children during my time with the agency.  Improving the lives of children is a mission that is close to my heart, and I have dedicated the last 20 years to working for organizations that do just that.  In addition, I served as the President of the Optimist club of Lynchburg and currently reside on the Strategic Planning Committee for Holy Cross Regional School.  When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife Jackie and our 11 year old son Lucas, and our 7 year old son Woodrow.

Director of Programs & Enrollment

Sharon Jones

For the past 23 years, I have had the privilege of serving with BBBSCVA, where my role is to bring together the perfect volunteer and the perfect Little. There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing the beginning of a life-changing relationship. Seeing the smiles, excitement, and genuine joy on the faces of both the volunteer and the child during their first meeting reminds me that the work we do truly makes a difference. The best part is that I have the opportunity to experience that special moment again and again with every new match.

Outside of work, I enjoy relaxing at home, spending time with my husband of 23 years, and doting on our two cats, Pierre and Momma Cat. I also cherish visiting my children and traveling to destinations I’ve always dreamed of exploring. My faith is an important part of my life, and I have proudly served as Financial Secretary at my church for more than 15 years. Most recently, I had the honor of becoming a member of the Gamma Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

The words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. continue to inspire both my work and my life:

*“Everybody can be great… because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree. You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s theory of relativity to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A souls generated by love.”

Special Events & Marketing

Jessica Merrow

I have been part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Virginia team for 16 years, where I serve as the Special Events and Marketing Coordinator. I love building relationships and planning events. You’ll also find me creating social media content, planning fundraisers, or dreaming up the next creative way to spread our mission. I love turning ideas into impact.

I am a proud mom of three amazing kids (23, 17, 13) who keep me busy and make me laugh every day. I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, listening to music, traveling when I can, and making memories with the people I love. I have a heart for serving others and believe that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference.

Match Support Specialist

Jamie Madison

My name is Jamie Madison and I have been with Big Brothers Big Sisters of CVA for 5 years now. I truly enjoy working with children and families and nothing gives me greater joy than watching children and families grow with each other and with others in the community while making a better life and becoming a better version of themselves! I have worked with children and families in the community of Lynchburg for several years now. While in high school (over 10 years ago now), I had the opportunity to be a Big Sister myself in the site-based program and enjoyed visiting my little after school. Since graduating college in 2015, I was an Instructional Assistant in Lynchburg City schools and a Therapeutic Day Treatment Professional based in Lynchburg City Schools. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling. Our favorite thing to do together is travel to Tennessee and Myrtle Beach!
